Web Design Education Grant Money For Big Dreaming Armless Young Man

by Raja
(Los Angeles, CA, USA)

I am about to turn 23 at the end of this very week. I am a single male, with no kids.

I am the second of two adopted sons my single mother adopted from India over 21 years ago. Both my brother and I are attending college, and our mother has a low-income job, teaching.

I am not qualified to enroll in the military, though when I was younger I wanted to.

I was born without arms and femur in my right leg. I have to wear a prosthetic leg on that side.

Since my disability occurred at birth it hasn't evolved, but it qualifies me as officially disabled.

I will state that I refuse to let it define me, however. I daily seek to present myself as one who has no physical disability, and don't let it influence how I live my life.

I am currently trying to better my situation, by getting a degree in Web design, but I can't get enough loan money to completely cover my costs.

As a result I'm using a lot of my money from the government for school. I have other bills though, which often times get ignored in favor of school.

There are some things such as clothes that I need to buy (due to the ones I have are getting tattered and worn) but I can't even think about buying any.

Even with these provisions, I have fallen behind with my payments, though I'm trying to get back on track.

I love the learning environment, and am becoming a skilled designer, and just desire to be able to focus on school, without worrying about money.

Living in Los Angeles, transportation is really rough, I feel hampered by the limited bus schedule.

I receive SSI, and that's my main source of income. I am always trying to find freelance design work. I am always looking for work that I can do.

I am looking for some financial assistance, primarily with school, though anything additional would be appreciated.

My current payments are $415, and I owe close to $1500. I have begun working with Department of Rehabilitation, but I will still need assistance.
