Veteran Looking For A Government Grant To Start A Small Business

I'm 52-year-old veteran looking for a government grant to start a small business. I'm currently receiving Social Security Disability for back problems and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

I would like to acquire a grant to start a small business, because I cannot live on my disability income alone.

I have worked all my life. I need to feel that I can contribute to society. I'm a veteran. I served in the U.S. Air Force for eight years.

Please let me know if there's any help for this veteran looking for a government grant to start a business. I would like to be self-sufficient once again. THANK YOU.

Hi Angel,

I don't know if this will help or not, but I just heard the following announcement from the Department of Veterans Affairs:

Secretary of Veterans Affairs Eric K. Shinseki has announced the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is taking steps to assist Veterans seeking compensation for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Under the new rule VA would not require corroboration of a stressor related to fear of hostile military or terrorist activity if a VA psychiatrist or psychologist confirms that the stressful experience recalled by a Veteran adequately supports a diagnosis of PTSD and the Veteran's symptoms are related to the claimed stressor. Comments on this proposed rule must be received by October 23, 2009.
