Vehicle And Housing Grant Money For Service Connected Disabled USMC Veteran
by David Ericksen
(Victoria, Virginia, USA)
I am a 52-year-old 60% service connected USMC veteran. I have two children ages 16 and 8.
After four years in the USMC, I was wounded on active duty and given a medical discharge.
I have very serious medical conditions and need a vehicle that is safe to make the hour and a half trip to the VA.
I am in the process of obtaining 100% since I have not been able to work for 20 years due to my SC.
I am service connected for injuries to both my knees. My other disabilities include:
- High blood pressure that has caused seizures, heart attacks and a stroke.
- Damage to the venous structure in my right leg
- Deafness and tinnitus
- Hepatitis C
- Thyroid cancer
These conditions require me to travel back and forth to the VA quite often. My vehicle is very old and unreliable.
I have my family staying with an old friend. This is coming to an end soon and I may be on the streets with my family.
I need a helping hand with a good vehicle and some help finding a safe place for us to live together as a family.
I have been told there are government grants available for such situations. This is a real emergency because I need proper treatment and care for several health issues.
I have been unable to work since 1992. All my disabilities are getting worse. I also suffer from chronic pain.
I tried to get jobs and due to my health and physical disabilities it is impossible.
I get SSDI, which I received on my first try. I have never received a grant or church help or donations.
I am looking for a grant for a newer safe vehicle so I can make my medical appointments.
I go without so much and have been told by doctors that I will die if I don't address some of my issues.
I need help or a grant for affordable housing for my family and myself.
I also need legal help getting my 100% VA service connection for unemployability. I think 20 years is long enough.
I struggle every day just to barely get by. Any help would be a blessing.
