Single Disabled Woman Seeks Housing Grant Money To Repair Broken Home

by Erma
(Nashville, NC, USA)

Hello. I am a single, disabled female lucky enough to live in our family home, which was rebuilt in 1964 after a fire destroyed everything we had.

After the deaths of both parents, I had the home deeded directly to my grandson, due to the seriousness of my health issues.

My grandson allows me to live here as long as I can pay my monthly expenses and small problems that have arisen at home.

Now, however, I am feeling overwhelmed with the condition of our home. There are so many problems with it.

The roof leaks and the ceilings in two rooms are falling in.

The doors won't shut because the house isn't level.

The bathroom floor needs replacing as it has holes in it.

The plumbing now is giving me rusty water because the pipes are so old.

Last winter, I almost froze when my gas heater broke.

I have no stove, because the top rusted out where the roof leaked in it (gas burners on the top).

My Kitchen floor is popping up in places and I have tripped and fallen down 4 times.

I feel that I do not yet have to be in a home for the elderly or in a government housing complex.

Is there anyone that can help me? I want to stay home and don't know where to turn or who to ask for help. Thank you.
