Single 52 Year Old CP Disabled Woman Seeks Grant Money To Make Ends Meet
by Debbie Shaffer
(Unionville, CT, USA)
I am a 52-year-old woman born with severe Cerebral Palsy with a speech impairment.
I am wheelchair bound, and have poor motor skills. I live in Assisted Housing, and have my own apartment.
They give me money for Personal Assistance but that has nothing to do with my income.
I get a check from SSI of $741 a month, and out of that I pay rent, cable, phone, credit card and some other expenses.
I also have to buy groceries every other week. I do get food stamps but that only goes so far.
I barely get by on what I get a month. I have to pay my bills with that amount alone and I don't get any extra help from anywhere else.
I worked years ago but the place where I'm living takes any extra income that we make and I don't feel it's worth it.
I have never been married, no kids. I recently lost my cat in February. He was Very special to me. I had others before but not like this one, we had a special bond.
I'm going to get another one in the winter so I can train him to be an indoor cat.
I hope you can help me!
