Sickle Cell Disabled 50 Year Old Woman Seeks Grant Money For Debt Relief

by Brenda
(Summerville, SC, USA)

I am a 50-year-old woman on SS Disability. My disability is sickle cell anemia. I have so many hospital bills I can't count any more.

I am married. My husband works for a small company and we just can't make ends meet. We're always paying copays, doctor bills, and hospital bills.

It's very hard to make it. My youngest son is trying to go to college, but we never have money so we cannot afford to pay for his education.

Although we own our home, we are trying to stop the bank from taking it away from us. Is there a grant out there to help with debt?

With me having to go back and forth to the doctor, I need transportation, but my car needs work that we can't afford. The tires are bald, so in the rain, the car slides. It's very scary. Water comes into my car from the air conditioning. I'm hoping it holds up through the summer.

I don't know what to do any more. Please is there help out there? We would appreciate any help we could get.

Congratulations on making the effort to submit your story to Accessible.org. With the publication of your story, you are now well on your way to:

1. Getting your story known to a wide audience that could help you.

2. Getting your story polished up and presentable so you can submit it elsewhere, including the White House.

As a disabled person myself, I can sympathize with your situation and I definitely understand your need for help.

I've done a bit of research and found these resources for you:
