PTSD Recovered Decorated Combat Veteran Seeks Grant To Reset Life
by Jon Seppanen
(Bessemer, MI, USA)
I should receive a grant for a couple reasons. The first reason is that I am a decorated combat veteran who devoted eight years of his life to defend our country.
I fought in the first invasion of Afghanistan in 2002. I was then promoted to Staff Sergeant in the 82nd Airborne.
Two weeks after returning from Afghanistan I volunteered to lead a squad of 10 men into the ground war in Iraq, which involved direct engagement of enemy insurgents.
I became burned out from war and shortly after my wife filed for divorce. My term was up and I did not reenlist and separated from the Army and received an honorable discharge in Aug of 2005.
Since then I have had numerous inpatient treatments at the VA hospital due to combat stressors of war and on-going struggle with post-traumatic stress disorder.
March 8th 2010 I pushed my local Veteran hospital to submit paperwork so I could receive the treatment of the best PTSD residential program in the Nation.
Located in the Miami veteran hospital, the program is a 90-day acute exposure therapy program.
I completed all tasks the program stated and graduated June 11, 2010. The doctors were at a loss for words due to hard work and improvement I had made.
I feel I deserve a grant so I can start to live my life. I feel now that I have hope back in myself and would like to live my life to its fullest. Sincerely, Jon A. Seppanen.
