Parkinson Disabled Woman Seeks Grant Money For Essential Medications

by Sharon Hamilton
(Fort Lauderdale, FL, USA)

I am a 52-year-old woman who has been living with Parkinson's disease going on five years.

But what I have is not like that of Michael J. Fox or Mohammad Ali, the uncontrolled shaking, if that's not bad enough!

My condition causes a constant loss of balance. In the process, I've broken three ribs and fractured my pelvis twice in the same spot.

Now I'm living with constant pain and dizziness where I can no longer get out of bed to even use the rest room without the help of my husband, who's been like an angel of mercy to me.

Nine months ago he lost his job due to his employer relocating out of state. My Social Security and his unemployment benefits barely pay the rent and utilities.

There's nothing left for all the medication that I'm prescribed, not to mention food and other things we need.

Another Parkinson's patient who soon won't have anything
by: Bruce

I have the same problem. I'm 49 with 5 years of PD. My aid runs out in June and SSI is in its third appeal and the wait time in 16-18 months. I can't work a job due to pain, and the tremors. I really don't know what to do. Soon I won't have money for anything.
