Overwhelmed Not Disabled Single Dad Seeks Financial Blessing For His Children

by Randall K. Thomsen
(Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA)

I am a 48-year-old single father of a 13-year-old son and a 16-year-old daughter who is 9 months pregnant. I have been divorced for 10 years.

The father of my daughter's child was kicked out of his home so I moved him in with us. He was not taught any life skills, has no driver's license and did not finish school.

As of now he has completed his GED, and he has his driver's permit and a job. He is a caring young man and now has a stable home where he is loved and wanted.

I am doing my best to provide for them. More important than anything I am trying to raise them with integrity and respect.

My daughter is excelling in an awesome school designed for young women in her situation. She may even graduate one year early. She wants to be a nurse.

My 13-year-old son is in 8th grade and doing well. He has kept a B average in school for the last 5 years. He wants to join ROTC next year in high school to work towards his goal of joining the air force.

My new 18-year-old son has been trying very hard to find work and just got hired at Walmart. He is very relieved and happy to be working, as their baby is due very, very soon.

He wants to attend college and is interested in science but he understands that for now he needs an income first.

I am very blessed by these children. They do not have a mother figure in their lives and I feel bad for them for that but they have adapted and are doing well.

I only want to provide for their futures so they can be happy and productive when they are on their own.

I am fortunate that my children and I do not have any disabilities.

I have been an auto mechanic for 30 years. I recently lost a job that was paying $29 per hour. Thankfully I was only out of work for one day.

My new job pays 20 dollars per hour and is strictly commission, which I am struggling with a little but am confident I will be able to produce close to 40 hours per week of pay.

I am the only driver in the household right now. It is very difficult getting everyone where they need to be every day but we get it done. I have a very understanding boss.

I found a jeep for $600 for my new 18-year-old son that needs a transmission and the owner will take payments. I hope to have him driving within the next 6 months.

My 13-year-old son needs braces bad but that's another $150 a month we don't have.

I am concerned with the approximately $1500 a month pay cut I just took that we will have to move to a small apartment but things could be much worse and we will do whatever we have to do.

We are fortunate to be renting a nice house now that fits our needs. It costs $1075 per month.

My ex-wife is required to pay $50 a month child support.

I am asking for help especially now as I have a granddaughter to add to this mix that will be arriving shortly.

I am a hardworking God-fearing man that will do whatever it takes to provide for my family.

We are fortunate that a state program (CHP+) covers my daughter's pregnancy. My sons also qualified so they finally have some sort of health insurance.

I work every single day and now my 18 year old is working too. He has not received his first paycheck yet but I am helping them start a budget.

Most of his check will go to provide for their new daughter. I am unsure of any other avenues available to help us through our situation.

I am not exactly sure what sort of help I am asking for. I have been praying for relief from this desperate situation.

I Googled "single parent pregnant daughter help" and this site came up, so I am giving this a try. I am asking God to direct this cry for help to the proper places.

I am a very talented mechanic and have my ASE master auto technician certificates and have very good people skills and could be productive if ever given the chance to own my own shop.

It has been a dream for a long time. I am a very fair and honest person and would be able to bless many people while making a living at the same time.
