Osteoarthritis Disabled Mother Seeks Transportation Grant Money
by Sherry Walker

My name is Sherry and I have a problem with osteoarthritis of the right and left shoulder, left knee and both feet.
Through it all, I thank God I can still use my arms and walk, but my feet cramp so badly it makes it hard to get places I need to go.
I'm supposed to go to therapy but it's hard to get there. It's hard to go shopping. When one of the kids get sick or need to come home from school there's nothing I can do.
I have to make appointments for us when someone is going to be off from work and I hate being a burden on any one.
My daughter likes to be in things at school and I have to tell her we can't get there. That makes me sad because I like it that she wants to do these positive things.
I have custody of my grandson. He's 11 years old and wants to play football, but I can't get him there.
I used to have a company vehicle which allowed me to do these things, but when the company went out of business and took the van back, that put me at such a disadvantage it's like being between and hard place and a hard place.
I am on disability. I just can't do the things I used to do. Walking is not as much fun any more. I can't do heavy lifting and when I go to the store I have to have someone with me. Fortunately, the kids are really great at helping me out.
What I need is transportation. It sure would make things a lot easier, faster and better and not just for me, but for the kids also.
I hate always asking someone to take me here, take me there or can you drop Chris off or Jessica needs to go here.
Everything is always done on someone's time, or you don't get there at all. My disability really limits me.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Sherry Walker.
