MS Disabled 50 Year Old Seeks Grant Money For 4 Wheel Drive Wheelchair
by Jeff Hill
(Chase, MI, USA)
My name is Jeffrey Hill. I am 50 years old and suffer with Primary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis.
I had to forfeit my job as a youth counselor at an early age five years ago. I have a bleak outlook with no improvement.
I have a child to raise after my ex-wife leaving us.
I live in a remote region of Northern Michigan, where basic outdoor travel is difficult.
I was looking for a power wheelchair with four-wheel drive capability to restore my quality of life and get me out of the house.
I am currently housebound and would love to regain some of the mobility that I once had. Just going outside is taken for granted by people that don't think twice about the simple things in life.
With this grant, I would like to purchase an all-terrain wheelchair to help me get back some of what I have lost due to my illness.
Being housebound, especially in the wintertime, just adds greatly to the depression that I already fight with.
My mother passed away here at home when I could do nothing to save her. Then my wife walked out on my 16-year-old son and myself.
Dealing with the debilitating disease of PP MS means life has not been good lately. Being stuck indoors does not help. As the old saying goes, "Idle time is the Devils workshop."
Being able to get outdoors where I can always find something to do can take my mind off of such depressing moods.
I was taught at a young age how relaxing and wonderful the outdoors can be. And having a young son to teach a lot to really is a big influence on me.
I hope and pray from my heart that there is something that can let me think that my life is not really over at such an early age.
I still believe I have a lot to offer and pass on. All I really need is a way and chance to do so.
Thank you so much for your time and understanding.
