Mother Seeks Government Housing Grant Money For Accident Disabled Son

by Randie Taff
(Canton, Missouri, USA)

Jacob Taff, my 16-year-old son, was paralyzed from the nipples down in an automobile accident the 30th of May. He will be in a wheelchair for the rest of his life.

We live in a doublewide mobile home on a gravel road seven miles from Canton, Missouri. We get snowed in in the winter and mudded in in the spring. Jacob runs the risk of not being able to access medical attention in case of an emergency.

We have a mortgage on our home and cannot afford another mortgage to build a home for Jacob.

He cannot come home because of the road and our house is not and cannot be wheelchair accessible.

He will be discharged from the first phase of his rehabilitation on the 13th of August and will be forced to live in Canton with his sister because he can get around in her house.

I am distraught over not being able to live in the same house as my son and am worried that I won't be there if he needs me.

I am desperately begging for the funds to build a home for Jacob that is wheelchair accessible so he can be with his family.

Thank you for your consideration. Sincerely, Randie Taff, Jacob's mom.

I still need help
by: Anonymous

Since my first request for help our lives have changed even more. We have all moved in with my daughter in town and her natural father and grandfather. There are 7 people in a house built for four. My youngest daughter has to sleep on the couch. Jacob cannot take a shower because my daughter's bathroom is not handicapped accessible. My husband is an alcoholic and we are getting a divorce. I need help to modify the bathroom until I can get on my feet and find a home for Jacob. Please help
