Mother Seeks Disability Grant For Brain-Injured Daughter

by Dawn French
(Rittman, Ohio, USA)

My daughter Jamie was in a tragic car accident on November 25th 2008. She suffered a traumatic brain injury and is slowly recovering in a nursing home.

She is 20 years old and her boyfriend was killed in the accident. Jamie is a very happy girl who is making the best of things in a nursing facility that is mainly occupied by the elderly.

She is very anxious to return home but still requires rehab. She is having to relearn absolutely everything from the simple ABCs to which finger is this?

We would like to eventually bring her home but need help getting the home handicapped accessible. The bathroom needs to be adjusted to accept a wheelchair, and the stairs and entrance are a problem.

Is there any help she can get to be home with her mother and father? Also is there any kind of help getting a vehicle adjusted to be able to transport her? Dawn French -- Jamie's mother.

Hi
by: Amy Fee

Hi I'm hoping you've been able to bring Jamie home by now. I think about all of you frequently. Have you been able to get any help? I think I will ask my church if they know of any way we can help Jamie. Tom is pretty handy with a hammer but I'm sure you need more than a ramp into the house.

Please feel free to contact me sometime. Daniel's Mom has our phone number.
