Missouri Mark Seeks Hand Up Not Handout As Time Marches On

by Mark
(Kansas City, Missouri, USA)

It started 10 years ago, after a complete house fire, heart attack, and looming major surgery for my most beautiful wife.

Despite my optimism, time marches on, and our downward spiral of health continued, despite our savings, and pre-planning.

Today we live in a house without a furnace or kitchen, and gunshots can be heard almost daily. It's not exactly what we had planned.

It's hard not to be cynical and ask ourselves if this is our reward for working day in day out, not scamming the system, and trying to help friends and family avoid these very pitfalls.

Time has marched on, leaving my wife and me further behind. We need a hand up, not a hand out. Where do people go in their time of greatest need? Or, is this as good as it really gets?

Is it only an illusion to a lost American Dream? I can only hope and pray that time marches on not forgetting about families like mine, and the millions of others that remain in limbo.
