Lupus And RA Disabled Widow Seeks Grant Money For Basics Of Life

by Mary
(Leesville, SC, USA)

I lost my apartment in Columbia, South Carolina, due to my husband losing his job.

We were receiving disability, not public assistance, so we got behind in our rent because I was the only one with income at the time he lost his job.

I have lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, congestive heart failure, chronic pain as with the lupus, diabetes. I also have an intestinal blockage, which I would rather not be operated on to have to use a bag, so I get soft food, as my doctor suggested.

My husband and I were living with his mom in Prosperity, SC, when he dropped dead with a massive heart attack. We had no insurance of any kind and now I'm still paying on his funeral bill, which I'm down to $2,023 for the Wilson Funeral Home in Newberry, SC.

I'm having to pay my niece $400 a month now to live with her and I only get $1300 a month. Between my medications and food, even with part for my medication each month.

Just recently I lost my car that I could not make the payment on and now I'm not sure how I'm going to get to my doctor every three months.

I have found a home but I don't have any furniture, not even a bed or a chair. I'm looking to see if there is anyone who has some free furniture that they would donate to me.

Some days I want to take my life because I've never been down like this with no means and no one caring about me.

My spouse was the best thing God ever gave me and now he is gone and I have no one but Jesus Christ to depend on and I do.

But his word is that we don't steal or take, but ask for what we need in life and that someone will surely come my way as to help me. So this is what I'm doing... asking for a helping hand.

I also ask that you and your congregation pray for me. I have a church, but since I haven't been able to pay my tithes no one seems to know I'm still alive.

Thank you and may God bless you and your family. Mrs. Mary Hair.
