Homeless Veteran With PTSD On SSDI Needs Transportation Grant Money

by Jon Parsons
(Sheridan, WY, USA)

I am a 38-year-old divorced male veteran who served in Bosnia in 1995.

I have been experiencing blackouts and have been in the Sheridan VA for PTSD treatment for 9 months.

I was put in jail for 26 months due to my blackouts. I assaulted a cop but didn't know it.

I have many diagnoses including PTSD, borderline personality disorder, depression, anxiety, chronic mental illness and substance abuse.

It's hard to say when it all started but it got worse after I got out of the military. I was honorably discharged and have been through two PTSD programs, one in 2005 and again in 2010.

I have service connection at 10% for a knee injury and a PTSD claim pending.

Several doctors wrote letters stating that I shouldn't work and that I be re-evaluated in two years.

I am moving to Section 8 housing tomorrow and have no transportation.

I need either a cosigner or a loan or grant for $6000.

I was due back pay but since I couldn't pay my child support in jail they gave my ex $17,000 that I was going to use to purchase furniture and a car along with dishes etc.

I lost everything I had and I was current on my bills but when I went to jail they didn't get paid which ruined my credit.

I have bad days and good days but it seems to be getting worse.

I'm supposed to attend counseling once a week but can't because I have no way to get there.

I collect SSDI and 10% compensation from the VA. I am unable to work at all right now.

I can't work and my only problem is that I need a car. I can live without furniture and blankets and dishes, but I need to continue my treatment so I can try to get better and eventually get off of SSDI and return to work.

I collect SSDI and VA disability at 10%. I was turned down for food stamps because I make too much.

I tried to get a loan but I need a cosigner and I have no one to do that for me because of my credit.

That's all I receive although next month I will receive HUD VASH, which will help with the rent, but I need a car

I am looking for a $6000 grant or loan or someone who will co sign for me to purchase a vehicle.
