Home Buying Grant For PTSD Disabled US Marine Veteran With Severe Depression

by Ralph
(Mount Vernon, Illinois, USA)

I'm a 45-year-old veteran of the United States Marine Corps. I was honorably discharged.

I'm a single father of four kids. Two of my kids still live at home. They depend on me for everything.

I am being treated for PTSD and severe depression. This occurred when I was with my unit. I witnessed a horrific explosion. And saw people I knew die.

I am still going through the rating process for my disability. I am permanently disabled for life.

The hardship on my family is very difficult for me. We have rented houses, sometimes a bit too small for us, but we are grateful for what we have.

I have never owned a home or a new car, as could never afford one. But we don't complain.

I would just like to be able to walk into a home and say, "We are not renting anymore. We are buying."

I tried to work and for many years I did. But now I cannot. I get a VA disability pension and SSDI.

My needs are grants of any kind of assistance that would help me buy a home.

If I had the chance I would like to have my own business. My idea is to buy some land, dig a few ponds and raise fish to sell.

Some help in your situation
by: Stefan Maurer

Both my mom and dad were in the military. I love doing research, and kind of get OCD even when it comes to calling/emailing people to get things resolved. Also I like to talk to the person in charge rather then an assistant/clerk who usually gives you beat-around-the-bush answers, and has you call five other people just to get back to the same phone number again.

Below are two links that might be of interest to you:

Also, here is an email and phone number to contact the chief of specially adapted housing within the V.A. (Brian N. Bixler): brian.bixler@va.gov, and the phone number is (571) 272-0091. I hope things get better for you and your family, and I wish you the best. Peace. :)
