Financially Embarrassed Disabled Woman Seeks Help Rebuilding Dignity

by Laura
(Johnstown, PA, USA)

I am a survivor of assault. I was struck across the face with a wooden table leg, swung with the force of a grown man swinging a baseball bat.

The result was disability resulting in the loss of my job, foreclosure on my house, and four (4) facial surgeries to date. I did not know my attacker.

I am a 46-year-old woman in the process of divorce from my 30-year-old husband. He considers me fat, ugly and old. (His words, not mine.)

I am about to become homeless. I am currently living in the home he purchased. I am not on the mortgage. He wants to remarry and have children. I need to get out. (Again, his words, not mine.)

I receive $598 per month. I have no money saved, no assets and drive a 1993 Jeep that is in dire need of repair. My body and mind are as broken as my Jeep.

To put it bluntly, I desperately need help. I must find my own place to live. In order to do that, I need money.

I really hate having to rely on handouts, but my situation has stripped me of all pride and dignity.

Thank you for listening.
