Fibromyalgia Disabled 57 Year Old Woman Seeks Housing Repair Grant
by Cathy Ann Buchholz
(Abbotsford, Wisconsin, USA)
My name is Cathy and I am 57 years old with three children. I am also blessed with five wonderful grandchildren.
In the early 1980s my children and I were abandoned, homeless with no means of a livelihood.
I raised my beautiful children myself while going back to college to complete my BS degree in education.
I have taught emotionally disturbed and special needs children for over 20 years. I start with this information to tell you how very hard it is for me to seek help from outside sources. I have always tried to only rely on myself.
My story began in 2006 with undeniable severe pain that was eventually diagnosed as fibromyalgia. I then moved into my childhood home with my mother. The situation became very stressful and the pain increased threefold.
I then moved into a 1978 camper until the weather was below zero. I then moved in with my daughter and her children.
As much as I love my family dearly, they just don’t understand the torture of pain I endure every day.
When my mother moved into an apartment, I moved back to my childhood home because I had nowhere else to go.
I have had years of severe situational depression, anxiety, and panic attacks. To a degree I have become agoraphobic.
I take medication that renders my daily activities to a mode of systematic thought processes and delayed mental acuity.
I receive radio frequency ablations approximately every six months to allow me to walk without a great deal of pain.
I receive disability payments. Due to huge past debts incurred while filing for disability and attorney fees, I have very little left over to update my living environment.
My plea is for a grant to help establish a healthy, safe, viable living situation. Some home issues:
1-The basement has pockets of mold
2-Front and back porches are rotting away.
3-Interior is not handicap accessible (bathrooms, kitchen etc.)
4-Beams in dining and living areas are sagging.
5-Windows and insulation are non-energy efficient.
6-Rain seeps in basement.
7-Garage roof is caving in.
Thank you for your time and consideration, Cathy Ann Buchholz.
