Father With Chronic Heart Failure Seeks Grant Money For Medical Debt Relief
by John Charles Smith
(Slidell, LA, USA)
My name is John Smith. I'm 39 years old and married to my wife Stephanie Smith. We have two foster kids, and I have one daughter and one son.
In December of 2008 I was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy. I underwent left heart catheterization that showed nonischemic cardiomyopathy with ejection of 15-20 percent.
The left ventricle is enlarged, measuring 6.6 cm with severe diastolic dysfunction. I'm 100 percent disabled and completing the work up for heart transplant.
My family is in financial hardship with me not working. We are in danger of losing our home and being homeless and drowning in bills.
I'm taking 14 pills of medication and also have sleep apnea. I have to wear a CPAP mask at night.
I'm getting SSDI, but not able to pay rent and other bills to live. We are asking for help with grants or other benefits.
Our family prays and hopes to make it through these hard times.
Medicaid just took me off because they said I make too much in SSDI so they cut my SSI. Please help us.
