Family Seeks Government Grant For Better Housing And Rise From Poverty
by Melissa Kearney
(Raleigh, NC, USA)
We are the Kearney family now living in Raleigh, NC and looking for a government grant for better housing.
I moved three years ago away from NYC so my children could have a backyard and a more liberal outdoor lifestyle, instead of being confined to a sidewalk.
I found a job and worked very hard. I recently got married and had twins. They are premature, one of them with Down syndrome.
His name is Andre Jr. He is now six months old, and has already undergone two surgeries. Heart surgery was the toughest for our family.
We are a household of seven: two adults, one 19-year-old teenager, and four children ranging in age from 11 years to six months.
We are in a three-bedroom rental. I no longer work because my children need me, especially the child with the disability.
My husband does landscaping and sometimes only has 20 hours on his schedule.
Rent is hard but we manage to scrape by with our poor credit.
I am requesting a grant for a home for my family, where we could pay a mortgage instead of rent..
My baby Andre Jr. and his siblings could rise out of the poverty we're in and even live the American Dream
We need help in any way the heart can give. Thank you for reading our story.
