Disabled Wife Of Disabled Veteran Seeks Government Grant For Wheelchair Van

by Linda Elom
(Cherokee, Alabama, USA)

My name is Linda Elom. I am 63 years old. I have a bad back and legs too. I can still get around though.

My husband is Allen Elom. He is 53 years old. He has been disabled since 1997 after two back surgeries and a severe staph infection. He has severe heart disease and is diabetic too.

I need a vehicle to carry his electric wheelchair with us to get him back and forth to the doctors.

I am beginning to get lots worse having to lift his wheelchair around. Some days I can't even straighten up with my back. But I still try to continue on.

We are on disability and we can't afford a vehicle with a lift to help us. He never gets out of the house except for the doctors, because it is so hard on me.

I have got to have total knee replacement on both of my knees. Our medical bills are growing bigger and bigger. I have COPD too, but so far I have manage to keep him at home and take care of him.

It would be greatly appreciated if someone could help us with a vehicle to get him around in. Thanks in advance for everything. Sincerely, Linda Elom.

Aid and attendance benefit
by: Anonymous

This program can provide money to you to hire someone, in home or out, family or not to provide assistance to you, including driving you places.

(up to $4000 per month!)

Most metro cities also have special transportation that will come and pick you up.

Check out "benefits" at military.com for more info.
