Disabled Widow Seeks Government Housing Grant For Accessible Home

by Elantha L. Russell
(Georgia, USA)

My name is Elantha Russell. I have been disabled for nine years. I'm looking for a government grant to help me find accessible housing.

I had a stroke in September of 2000, and started having seizures in 2001 as a result of the stroke on the frontal lobe of my brain.

In January of 2002 I had a massive heart attack and was taken to Spalding Regional Hospital in Griffin Georgia and from there to Crawford Long Hospital in Atlanta Georgia.

I stayed on life support and in a coma, battled pneumonia, and a staph infection while I was there.

I have lived in the family home for 40 plus years and I don't have the cooperation or the consent to make my home a nice livable place.

In winter it's very cold; in the summer it's very hot. My daughter, granddaughter, and son-in-law live with me because I'm not able to live alone.

(Because of the stroke I'm unable to make my brain and fingers work together, so I had my daughter type this.)

I'm in desperate need to live in a house that is decent. Can someone please help me in my situation?

A government grant to help me get accessible housing would be great, but I would appreciate even the smallest bit of help.
