Disabled Widow Seeks Government Grant Money To Make Home Accessible

My name is Ginger. I am a 52-year-old widowed single parent. I have raised 2 children working 2 jobs, without asking for any additional help to make ends meet.

A few years ago, I became disabled. I have many health issues ranging from neuropathy to demyelinating nerves.

Being in a wheelchair, I am unable to work 2 jobs as I did before. I receive SSD. By the time I pay bills there is no money left to do any modifications to my home.

In order to get into my home, there are many steps in front and 10 in the back. Once inside, there are 13 steps to go upstairs to my bedroom and shower.

I walk with braces on both legs and use a walker. However, I can only walk a distance of 50 feet.

The braces are heavy so I am basically in a wheelchair. Another agency is helping me get a ramp.

I live downstairs, sleeping on a hospital bed and using a portable commode. Privacy is a big issue.

I have a powder room downstairs. The doorframe isn't big enough for my wheelchair to get in.

I would like some help to put in a roll in shower and bedroom downstairs. I would become somewhat independent again.
