Disabled Veteran Seeks Grant To Save Towing Business And Home

by Richard K. Houchens
(Glasgow, Kentucky, USA)

I was determined 90% disabled 80% service connected in 2007. I could not get a job due to my disabilities.

So when I had a chance to buy a towing business I did. Now I have been diagnosed with narcolepsy and can't drive my trucks.

Due to this and other bad luck with the economy, I'm about to lose my business and home. Is there no way to get help in this PLEASE!!!

Thank you for your time and any help of any sort you can send my way. Richard Houchens.

What type of business do you have? Commercial, non-profit?

What many people don't include in their grant proposals is specifics of what type of skills they have, or previous accomplishments, like managing a business for... years. This could be very helpful for readers to know what type of work you do. Just a thought.

Since you have business experience, I'd like to propose a few ideas. The first is to consider starting a community organization that is designed to help local veterans such as yourself. If you have the ambition and think you could handle the work, you'd have more income, and be contributing to hundreds of veterans in your area.

You could start by reading some of the stories here posted by other veterans, to see what struggles they face in their own communities. You'll probably find a lot of similar needs. Maybe you?re the right person to take hold of a hard situation and create something quite positive.

Something to think about.

Other ideas:

Website for Veterans, Forum, Gift Store/Donate for Grants to give to local veterans in your area, Non-Profit Organization, you would earn a salary and be giving something back!

Good luck to you, and thank you again for your efforts as a solider. I have never been in the military. I thought of joining the Navy as a youngster, and went on to education instead. I have always thought about how my life would have been had I served in the military. It must be hard.

Don't give up.

Sincerely,

Katina from Accessible.org
