In the Hospital
I am a 26-year-old Navy veteran that was medically discharged back in 2003. With medically caused expenses piling up, I'm looking for debt relief assistance.
I have no children, but I'm surrounded by a great family that I love and care for so dearly.
When I was injured on active duty and told I would have to separate from service, I thought that was the end of the world. I had planned on making the military my life because I love my country.
I guess life had other plans. My injuries left me with 21 stress fractures, torn ligaments in my knee, and two cracks in my hip.
After the fall, I started having seizures and constant headaches that worsen and frequently become migraines.
I am currently receiving 40% disability from the VA but since conditions have gotten worse, I have applied for 100% disability by request of my doctors.
I have also applied for SSI and SSDI and I'm waiting on my SSI to start.
I worked up until the day my doctors stated I could no longer work and that this is when I fell into a small slump.
I am currently volunteering at the VA so I can occupy my time and still have that sense of serving my country.
Due to not being able to work I have lost my car and bills have fallen behind. I am also in the process of losing my house.
Serving my country was an honor and I would do it all over again if I could. Since health keeps me from the field, I figure I will give back to all those like me who served.
