Disabled Poet With Bipolar And Other Disorders Inspires People With Disabilities

by James R. Silverthorn
(Omaha, NE, USA)

My name is James Silverthorn. I was born with bipolar disorder. As I became older I noticed ticks. I have been diagnosed with ticks, Tourette syndrome, ADHD bipolar and mild to moderate panic attacks.

I have partial permanent disability in my wrists as well.

I attempted to succeed in college. I worked graveyard full-time and did college full-time. This was before I was aware of my bipolar.

I am now in between jobs. I have accepted a temporary job in inbound telemarketing.

I am a very creative person. I have a song produced that was heard by Jermaine Dupri at Arista Records. I am an accomplished poet and registered with BMI.

I have a lot to offer this world especially my country. I also want to say disability isn't an excuse to not strive for excellence.

I was at one company for 13 years. I know this is success, yet I left due to the fact it was sold for the third time.

I am not sure what else to write but I hope people are encouraged not to give up their dreams when they read this.

A positive outlook!!
by: Joni McGlynn

What a wonderful man! I also suffer from bipolar disorder and your story has me in tears and a big smile. I just noticed that I cried and smiled in the same sentence. They told me at Mohave mental health this is not normal. Does anyone understand why I cried and smiled at the same time? Keep up the positive outlook. Thanks for making me smile!
