Disabled Mother Of Three Seeks Housing Grant Money For Home Repairs

When I was 27 and going through my first divorce a lady gave me a two-month-old baby and offered me a two-year-old little girl at that time too. I couldn't take both children but my aunt took the little girl. I did a single parent adoption and life was better than it had ever been. When my son turned six, this same lady came back and gave me two more kids: a four-year-old little boy and an 11-year-old little girl. I wasn't sure financially how I was going to do. I was just determined that these kids would grow up together and know each other. We managed quite well for a while and things moved along pretty good, until 2005 when we lost our home to repossession, which was devastating. It was really hard for me with three kids and a husband who is disabled with a back injury to have to move in with my parents in their two-bedroom mobile home (my uncle lives there with my parents). We were cramped and crowded but at least we had a roof over our head. In 2007, I suffered a light brain stroke and was hospitalized for 21 days and it just seems that since then my health has plummeted down hill. I am on 18 medications a day. I have heart trouble, pulmonary hypertension, left ventricle hypertrophy, tricuspid insufficiency and factor-five mutation Leiden. I have good days and bad days as we all do. Making a long story short, we eventually got a house after living with my parents three years. It's a nice home and I'm proud of it but it needs some work that I cannot afford on my own. It needs underpinning and a better roof and I would love to have a front and back porch. We could use another room added on but we can also make do without one. I don't really know how these grants work but would love for someone to help me and tell me how because I would love to know that at my death our home would be fixed and my kids would always have a decent home.
