Disabled Mary With Poor Eyesight Needs Government Housing Grant To Fix Home

by Mary Houston
(Damascus, GA, USA)

My name is Mary. Some 40 years ago I bought two acres of land and a house in the country. It was always my dream to do that.

I was never able to work due to my eyesight. Now I have just a disability check coming in each month.

My house needs some serious work done on it. I really need some help for this old house is falling in on me.

The back part of it is already so far down that you cannot close the back door. I have to use a piece of plywood at night when I close it to stop things from coming in.

If there is some help out there I can get just to help me to get me a better house on the land I own, I just don't want to have to move.

I have to live with the income I have come whatever. I just work to die in the country on my own land. If there is any assistance out there that can help me, that's what I am looking for.

Thank you and God bless you for any government housing grant or other assistance you can send my way.

Hi Mary,

Try Habitat for Humanity and also your bigger local church groups there. Many are sending volunteers still to places like the areas affected by hurricane Katrina, and other places too. Or try your local vocational schools and trade schools to supply student labor while using your home for a real-world training exercise. Also try an ad on your local Craig'sList.com for Handyman services or local Carpenters willing to help you economically. Or consider a live-in laborer in exchange for a room in your home, if one is available.
