Disabled Homeless Man Seeking Government Disability Grant For Housing

by Rickey Drake
(Vancouver, WA, USA)

I had my own home since 1978. Then in 1999, I got sick with cancer after surgery, chemotherapy and radiation treatment at Northwest Cancer Specialists in vancouver.

It was still growing, and the doctor gave me a 10% chance of beating the cancer. I talked with the doctor on how I see in the chemo lounge there people living with cancer until they finally die.

I asked him if there was anything else that i could try. Stem cell transplant was very new. I would have to pass a test to see if I was a candidate.

I am a shell of the strong my I once was, but now cancer free. I had to move out of my hone of 24 years, because I had refinanced four times over the four years fighting cancer.

Crying my eyes out, I was homeless for two years with my son for the first time in my life, choosing not to go on welfare.

My friend said I should see about disability. Then after a another biopsy, I was diagnosed with a rare disease called Castleman's. They gave no disability without a lawyer.

I long for and my heart still wants my own home. I'm looking for a down payment that could help me get back into a home. If there's a government disability grant for housing for the disabled, I would very much appreciate it.

Heart of Gold
by: Anonymous

Paul, you must have a heart of Gold and I'm very proud of what you wrote. I've been disabled since 1999 and have never once found extra help from anyone. Oh well! Our SSI is $865 a month and now my husband lost his job and we'll probably lose our home all over needing $50,000 to get out of debt. To me $50,000 is not a lot of debt compared to what other people have and to lose everything over that amount of money is not fair. My big thing is there are rich people out there, and I mean rich, and never do you see them offering to help the ones in need even on a higher rate loan. Maybe the world would be in better shape if everyone thought as you did. Any real fast ideas how I can raise that type of money or any advice would be helpful. Thank You!

You're never alone. I'll take you in.
by: Anonymous

You're not alone in this world. I don't know where you live but I will take you in. I am God's Child and give anyone anything I have to offer. I have been taken advantage of, stolen from and done wrong. However God takes care of those types of people. If you need something and I can do or have it then it's yours. This is the way I've always treated everyone all my life. Paul.
