Disabled Former RN Starts Nonprofit Making A Difference One Family At A Time

Hello, my name is Roslyn and I am disabled with 2 children and a grandchild.

I am currently in the process of starting my own nonprofit organization for disaster relief and crisis interventions in the community.

I was involved in a car accident over 7 years ago that almost took my life. I was hit by a dump truck and sustained injuries, resulting in 2 neck surgeries and bilateral jaw surgery.

During this time I was a Nursing student, receiving my ASN degree at the College of Nursing as a Registered Nurse.

This has been a devastating experience for my family and me. As a result of the accident, I lost everything, had nowhere to go, nowhere to turn.

But, by the grace of GOD, I found a way to restore and rebuild myself.

I am very grateful to have survived this struggle and to be here today and to be able to tell this story.

I definitely know what it is like to be suppressed and homeless.

My goal is to help victims and families who have been touched by a disaster or are facing a crisis through Humanitarian aid, providing food, clothing and shelter.

It would also help with disaster preparedness, public awareness workshops and life skills programs to the community.

The organization is named "OPERATION FAITH" and the mission is to help restore and rebuild the victims and families affected by a crisis or a disaster, before, after and during the actual event.

I believe this can be done.

My heart and passion has always been with helping others. That's why I chose the nursing field.

Although I can't continue in my field, I will still be able to make a difference. There is a great need for restoration and rehabilitation to the citizens in our community.
