Disabled Firefighter And EMT Needs One More Treatment To Walk Again
by Kevin Daniels
(South Boston, Virginia, USA)
One more treatment and I'll walk some.
Here's the letter I'm sending out for any help. I can pretty much guarantee I'll walk some if I can get another treatment. I'd hate to think the difference between me walking again and not is just $13,000.
As a firefighter and EMT I know what it's like in nursing homes around here. I'm too young to end up there. If I can get one more treatment I will walk again and avoid this.
What can you do? I've tried a lot on the Internet and local media. I'm running out of options.
Below is the letter I'm sending out. I could accomplish this and walk again in the range of $13-$15,000.

If you were seriously injured and a treatment was available that would help you get well, but was not available to you, what would you do?
As a firefighter, I put everything on the line to help those who are in need every day. Now I find I'm the one in need. When I suffered a serious brain stem injury after an auto accident on the way to a fire in 1998, it left me severely handicapped, unable to speak and prone to severe spasms. With limited treatments available, living the rest of my life like this was not an option for me.
Then a miracle occurred. I learned of a procedure using umbilical cord blood stem cells (UCBSC), a non-controversial, FDA-approved source of stem cells that are normally thrown away every time a baby is born. After just two infusions of UCBSC, my motor coordination and speech are greatly improved, my internal functions have returned to near normal, and my spasm medication has been reduced by almost 95%!
There is much hope that with further infusions I will continue to improve and may even be able to start walking again! The only thing keeping me away from this miracle recovery is money. My medical bills have already exceeded $1 million, and I cannot afford the $13,000 for another infusion.
I'm asking for your support to help me get my miracle. A fund has been set up for me through the Eric Drew Foundation**, where you can make a tax-deductible donation to help me reach this goal. Any size donation is greatly appreciated.
