Disabled Father Of Four Seeks Government Grant For Small Towing Business

by William Virgil
(New River, Arizona, USA)

My name is William Virgil. I am 45 years old. I am married with 4 children, 3 grandchildren and 2 dogs.

We live in rural Arizona. We have lived here since the late 70s. We're transplants from northern California and Colorado.

I became disabled in 1997. This was due to an industrial accident. My back has fused 3 times, my neck once.

In 2007 I had Chiari surgery on a brain tumor. This could not be removed. I have been on permanent total disability since 1997.

We are now in the position that we rent instead of own our own home. This was due to expenses.

My medications are very expensive; some are $300 a month.

Our car engine gave out 2 months ago. It was sold to junkyard. It was going to cost more than car was worth to fix it.

My wife is also on medication for lupus, fibromyalgia and a bladder disease. These medications are also very expensive.

I am on Social Security Disability. My wife is not eligible. Our church has helped us with rent and some utilities.

We are looking for grants to purchase a home and repair/restore it. This would be in our rural area.

We are also looking for grants to start a business from home. This would facilitate making us more able to stand on our two feet.

Our business idea is towing and light auto repair.

Towing would involve us either purchasing a trailer with winch ($3000) or a very used tow truck. ($6000 to $10000).

As far as repairs go, I would need some additional tools. This would be in addition to what I already own ($2000).

This would get us up and running.

Advertising would free through the Internet and magnetic signs are $50.

We estimate income at $2000 to $3000 a month. The main cost would be tow vehicle maintenance and fuel at roughly $500 per month.
