Disabled Couple Seeks Grant Money To Survive And Be Autonomous
by Jodi Joyner
(Vanceboro, NC, USA)
My husband and I live in Vanceboro, NC. We are both disabled, both mentally and physically.
My disabilities are bipolar, mood disorders, personality disorder, and several phobias. My disorders change in severity by added on stress and other day to day problems.
My husband's disabilities are schizoaffective disorder, arthritis that affects multiple areas in his body, and severe asthma.
All of this prevents us from working. This is why we are on Disability income (SSI).
The Government doesn't allow us to earn enough money to pay all of our bills, buy food, and pay for any other household expenses we have.
Should we try to earn any extra income there is a threat of our income being cut or discontinued.
We are behind in our mortgage, utility, medical, and other payments. We are at risk of losing our home and everything we have.
This is why we need this grant.
