Disabled 49 Year Old Female Seeks Housing Grant Money To Avert Homelessness

I am a single 49-year-old disabled female that recently left an abusive relationship. I now have nowhere to live.

I have had 4 back surgeries since September of 2007. My last surgery was in January of 2011.

I had to have my disk at L-5 / S-1 removed and a rod and screws put in with bone fusion.

I was working as an electrical technician when my disk blew out. I lost my job after returning back to work after my first surgery.

The same disk has blown out four times since September of 2007.

I am in pain most every day and cannot work currently.

I was recently awarded disability and receive $630 per month. They found me disabled since January of 2010.

I was living in my ex-husband's home until Friday, June 30th, 2011. I was being verbally and emotionally abused.

My ex-husband's lease was ending on July 31st and I had to move out of the home. I am now homeless and in need of help.

I am currently taking pain medication, muscle relaxer and a nerve medication all prescribed by my surgeon, Dr. Christie Mina in Greenville, SC.

I receive $630 per month for disability. After paying my car payment and car insurance, I do not have enough money left to afford rent, power, water and food.

I cannot work because of my back injuries.

I am in need of financial assistance for housing and food.

It saddens me to hear of your hardship. I do so hope that you can get the help you need. Was your back surgey due to a work related injury? If so you are due worker comp. Make them pay. Get a lawyer.

Let us all keep the faith and hold our heads up high. This too shall pass. I pray that things work out you. May the Lord be with you. He may not be there when you want, but he is there when you need him. He is always on time.

I am saddened to hear of your distress in life and your disabilities. I am in exactly the same position in life that you are.

It seems here in Arizona there is no help for us disabled single people at all, and no one can live on what you do. I receive $500 per month and now find myself homeless with not a relative to help me on this earth for they have all passed on now and I am only 59 years old.

I know abuse. The disabled are easy targets for some. Same thing happened to me, and verbal abuse of anyone is worst than physical in many ways. Having multiple degrees pertaining to social services I too find that I cannot work because of disabilities in my body now and pain constantly. There is no housing at all here for us. So I will be on the streets soon myself.

You have touched my heart, as only a kindred soul going through unimaginable times can understand. I wish you the best, and after this week I know not where I will end up. Take good care. I hope you get some help.

Keep your faith strong. It'll carry you through the hard times. I pray, because it's all I have left now too.
