Disabled 46 Year Old Man Seeks Grant To Start Business And Work Again

by Paul
(Independence, Kentucky, USA)

I'm a 46 year old and was injured on the job in December 2002. I worked until January 2003 because I thought I would lose my job if I took off.

I worked 60 to 70 hours a week and was a lead installer of HVAC equipment. I'm trying to get a government grant to start a new business.

I fell 8 feet off an 8-ft ladder and messed my back up. I had surgery in March of 2003 and have been on disability every since.

The doctor's tell me to retire enjoy life with the wife and grandkids. Well that's not me. That's why I need a government business grant.

I guess it's the way I was raised. A man should take care of his family and that what I want to do.

I want to make things better for me and my wife and four grandchildren and my community.

Well, you see when I got hurt, my wife and I also had our grandkids come live with us. That was kind of the best thing that has happened in my life.

You see if it wasn't for my lovely wife of 14 years, and my grandkids, it would have been a lot harder for me to deal with my injury.

I want to buy a franchise, which will create jobs for at least two to three people. The first year if everything goes right an additional two jobs will be added.

I just want to go back to work. You see I receive SSD and I don't want to stay on it. I just want to work and be the best husband and grandfather that I can.

I get $1007 a month and another $1200 for the kids. Have you ever tried to raise four kids on $2200 a month?

It's been hard but we get by, and besides that they are the best kids anybody could have.

I just want to be productive, and give back to my family, the community in which I live, and then someday if things work out give back to the people that helped.
