Disabled 27 Year Old Artist With 4 Kids Seeks Grant Money For Vehicle

by Sean Johnson
(Rosemond, CA, USA)

I was born and raised in Gardena California. I have four children ages 4, 5, 8 and 9. I'm an artist but a chef at heart.

Because of my disability I can't be a chef any more so now I'm more into art.

I'm paralyzed from the waist down. My attitude is still the same. I'm just lucky to still be alive by the grace of God.

In my spare time I read books and draw. I try to avoid from hanging around bad people. I'm 27 years old as I forgot to mention.

They way I became paralyzed is because I was caught in a crossfire between two rival gangs. A bullet struck me in the neck and shattered my c7 vertebrae.

Now I'm paralyzed from the waist down for life. This all happened on June 29, 2008. So it's been 3 years.

Now I have major nerve damage and chronic pain from that. I have blood clots on my lungs and I just went through 5 surgeries all because of that one bullet.

And to top things off, I have two more surgeries coming up in 6 weeks.

I don't have a car and its not easy traveling around with four kids on the bus every day.

Plus I can barely take care of them because my SSD check is only $840 a month. I'm struggling.

I'm trying to save up to get a car. But that seems impossible. Every penny I get has to be spent on kids and bill.

The only income I get is SSD and that's only $840 per month.

I'm looking for grants that can help me get a car for my children and me.
