Disabled 25 Year Old Jeremy Seeks Government Transportation Grant

by Jeremy
(USA)

My name is Jeremy. I am 25 years old and suffer from a disease called Wegener's granulomatosis. I was diagnosed with this disease when I was sixteen.

The first symptoms of my disease were complete loss of hearing, loss of appetite, and severe migraines. After being diagnosed and treated with chemotherapy I was able to live life with my disease in remission.

But my disease caused complete loss of hearing in my left ear and left me with chronic sinusitis. Due to my sinusitis, I have what doctors call saddlebag nose (where the cartilage in my nose has deteriorated) a deviated septum, and constant infections and migraines.

Just recently my disease has come back. It caused optic neuritis in both my left and right eye. It caused me to lose vision in my left eye. My vision has returned, but now I also suffer from a hemorrhaged, bloodshot eye. I am getting treated with a form of chemo called cytoxan, which I receive once a month intravenously.

I am not able to work. I have constant appointments with my rheumatologist, E.N.T. and an ophthalmologist an hour away from my home. I do not have a valid driver's license and am a constant burden to my mother. I have had to cancel several very important appointments simply because I could not afford to make it to them.

I would very much like to apply for a grant so I could possibly get my license back, obtain reliable transportation, and help support my family that struggles so much to make it by. I live with my mother and younger brother and my mother's income is the only income in the household.

I have no clue on how to do this. If there were ANYONE to help me, or show me what to do to make this possible, I would greatly appreciate it!

Ok here are some suggestions Jeremy!

Dear Jeremy,
I am a disabled LPN, may god bless you and your mother. First of all I would go to my doctor and get a release to obtain a drivers license. That is very important. Secondly, look in your yellow pages at places like homes for children thrown out. We have that here in Louisiana. They get cars donated and redo them. The next thing I would do is go to my pastor of my church if you're involved in any. See if they would be willing to do a raffle for you, to get you transportation. If that is not possible, write to the CEOs of places like GMC, Chevrolet, any place that the government has bailed out. Get my drift? They will need to do some nice things for needy people as write offs. There is a will and a way for everything in life. God opens these doors. Good luck, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and beginnings. There should be transportation in your area for people who are disabled and indigent. Call your local government, even the council on aging, okay. I wish you a very excellent new year and all that you need. God bless!!! American legions, places like that, any non-profit organization are there to help you. Okay? Let your fingers do the walking. Get doctor clearance first!!! The Salvation Army is another of these organizations helping others. I know. I am a Katrina casualty. We lost all we owned in a no-flood zone, at the true ground zero of the storm, St. Bernard parish, Louisiana. The levees broke during the storm. New Orleans did not break till the day after the storm. Be strong, yet not the victim. Have the courage of your convictions. God will bless you!!!
