Daughter Seeks Accessible Vehicle Grant Money For Disabled Mother
by Sharon Kingery
(Statesboro, Georgia, USA)
My name is Sharon. I'm looking for a government grant to help me get an accessible vehicle for my parents.
I live with my bedridden and blind mother and almost blind father. Someone has to be with them 24/7.
I am 37 years old and unmarried. I do have one son who is 16 years old and he picks up odd jobs to help ends meet, since I cannot work.
She has a good heart and always wants to help people, even if she can't do anything but pray for them.
I love my parents. You only have one mom and dad and they took care of me when I was little or hurt and now it's my turn.
She has not been out of our home in nearly 2-1/2 years except for hospitals and doctor appointments.
I am praying for a miracle that somehow I could manage to get her a handicap van.
I am scared that in case of a fire or disaster that I would have no way to get her out of danger.
She spent 81 days in the hospital when she broke her leg, and fought her way back from 3 times on life support, and having surgeries.
I just want to be able to get her to a park, in the sunshine, maybe in her wheelchair to Church. Oh, how she misses her church.
Please if there is some kind of assistance that I can apply for, I would sincerely appreciate it.
Our home is not medically equipped for her, but we are doing that little by little. My main focus is being able to get her to safety in the event of a disaster or emergency.
I gave up my life basically to make sure my mother is taken care of along with my father in their final years.
I am so blessed to have had them with me as long as I have. I would just like to let them see the world just a few more times.
It doesn't have to be a 2010; it just needs to be a safe vehicle. Please if there is any kind of assistance, please inform me of what I need to do.
God bless the person who reads this letter and can offer some suggestions on getting government grant money for an accessible vehicle.
Thank you so much for your time. God Bless!
