CP Disabled Woman Seeks Grant Money For Lift To Ride Horses Again

by Dawn Giannatala
(Temecula, California, USA)

Buddy and Dawn

My name is Dawn Giannatala and I'm 29 years old, and have Cerebral Palsy. A few years ago I started riding horses at Regins.

Then I had a catheter put in and couldn't ride for a while. Riding horses was fun, a good way to exercise and very therapeutic. I had the doctor put a catheter into my abdomen, so I could ride horses.

Since then we have had a hard time finding someone to help me on a horse. I went to Queen of Hearts riding ranch and a lady named Robin tried to help me on the horse, but it didn't work as I have Cerebral Palsy and am wheelchair bound.

I am also overweight, but trying to lose weight and have been doing it successfully. Now it is much easier to transfer with my helpers and I don't fall as much.

Robin at Queen of Hearts said she would help me ride a horse again if I would help her raise the money for a sure lift that would help me and other people onto a horse.

It needs to be a sure lift so that it can do the job of getting me and others onto a horse, it cost approximately $10,000.

Thank you for your time and for any sources of help you can direct me to.
