Bipolar Kristen Seeks Personal Government Grants For Better Life Quality
by Kristen Elizabeth MacLean
(Leeds, AL, USA)
Hello my name is Kristen MacLean. I'm bipolar and looking for any personal government grants to help my situation.
In addition to bipolar disorder, I suffer from an array of mental illnesses including generalized anxiety disorder, PTSD and agoraphobia.
I have been trying to cope with these illnesses since I was 13 years old. I even went to the state mental hospital at age 13 for repeated suicide attempts.
While at the state mental hospital, Bryce, I was raped by a staff member, which created the post-traumatic stress disorder.
I have been under the care of a psychiatrist for as long as I can remember. I have been on every antidepressant under the sun, most of which to no avail.
About one month ago I under went electroconvulsive therapy. I have to say my life has dramatically improved since ECT therapy; however, I'm left with razor slice scars all down my arms, legs, and neck from a few of the many times "I couldn't see through my fogged up glasses."
They tell me I may never have to do the ECT again or I may have to do it monthly.
Thank god I was approved for SSI, which also gives me Medicaid because most months I struggle to find the five dollars it costs to fill my prescriptions.
I am telling my story in hopes of receiving any assistance available to me. Any personal government grants for which I qualify would be most welcome.
