Bipolar Disabled 28 Year Old Seeks Government Grant For Debt Relief

by Julie Code
(Owosso, MI, USA)

At 28, I am 10 years older than my autistic brother. When I was 22, I found myself in the hospital, diagnosed with severe bipolar disorder.

I am also diagnosed with Asperger's disorder, a mild form of autism. Before this, I went to college to better myself to get a good job. I got sick half way through while pursuing a degree in mathematics.

I signed up for SSI and only got back-pay. Unfortunately I ended up paying most of this money in living expenses and giving some of it away to people who I thought were my friends.

I regret this deeply and now face the consequences. After a while, I went back to school to get a nurse's aide certificate. I got fired several times because I couldn't handle jobs.

But now I work with my brother and have for five years. My brother is severely severely disabled. He smears BM, abuses himself, and is very aggressive.

I cannot handle any other job, except for one I had.

I cannot afford to get on SSI because of my debt. I owe $15,000 total and would like to see if I could get some help.

I regret deeply almost everything I've done. Actually, I stayed in school just to get health insurance to be able to pay for my medical bills when I was sick.

Now I owe over $10,000 in school debt, one caused by dropping out of classes a day too late to get a full refund.

Now my job is in jeopardy because my brother may be going into a home because my parents cannot to handle his aggression.

I haven't even started to apply for SSI plus I am scared out of my mind as I owe $15,000 to creditors without being able to work anywhere else.
