You may think that I'm like everyone else, but I'm not. My reasons are different; my story is unique.
I will begin by telling you my name, Eliezer Oviedo. I am the youngest of nine including two sisters.
My older brothers have been what society is called now as failures. They have been in and out of jail. One of them was a pimp, the other a drug dealer, another a thief.
I tell you this because when you are the youngest and others have fallen before you there is a lot expected of you.
So with such high expectations, and the pressure that goes with it, I began to excel. I excelled in everything.
The art I did as a child has been put into a museum and at the age of 17 I graduated in basic arts.
At the age of 8 I began performing in a talent show but not before I had experienced years of playing in church.
Now at the age of twenty I am studying to become a composer and I am currently playing college football.
I am letting you know because my plan is to live a good life and if possible provide a better life for my family.
This business symbolizes a dream, a dream of three men. It is the result of three life experiences and twenty years of hard work, dedication and inspiration from God.
This company is not an idea, nor a sketch of numbers and budgets. It is the pinnacle of our lives and the light to our paths of the future.
Our fashion line is like no other. No other fashion line can measure up to this. We have many minds working on designs to the smallest detail in color and fabric.
Our plans are written out for the next two years. We work night and day, and use every bit of oxygen God gives us to our advantage.
We do this because we believe in what we are doing. We believe in it so much that it hurts.
We are no different from when Martin Luther King had a dream, or when the Wright Brothers believed that they could fly.
This is little different than when Christopher Columbus believed he would find America, or when Thomas Edison knew he would invent the light bulb.
The only thing we need is money to start our business. Even more we need you, the reader to understand why we need this money so bad.
This grant money will go to hiring our designers, which we already have and it will go to producing our clothes and ensuring it will be sold throughout the world.
But even more we need you to know that this grant will change our lives and better them.
Remember that the greatest service you could do for the world is to love and to show your love to others.
By bettering our lives you enable us to help others. Thank you for hearing my story.
Yours truly
Eliezer Oviedo
