(Mayking, KY, USA)
My name is James Hardin. I'm a male, 65 years old and I'm married with have 3 kids.
I was in the Marine Corps from 1966 to 1968. I served in Vietnam War from December1966 to November 1967.
I was diagnosed with PTSD, and I'm deaf in both ears caused by loud explosives in the war.
I got wounded in the war. I suffer a broken ankle when I had to jump from my helicopter when the enemy was shooting at us.
I suffered a stroke about 11 years ago.
I'm on a fixed income. Some of the medicines I'm on I get from the Veteran Hospital, but the new blood thinner I'm on Pradaxa and they don't have it.
I had to go to a heart specialist here in my hometown, which I had to pay for plus I also have to pay for my other heart medicines.
The VA told me that because I didn't see a heart specialist at the VA they couldn't help me with the medication I needed so I have to pay for it myself.
I receive disability from the VA and Social Security. That is the only income we have.
That is why I 'm trying to get help from the government to repair my home.
