53 Year Old Woman Seeks Grant Money For Extended Family Care

by Nita Vincent
(Leoma, TN, USA)

My name is Nita Vincent. I'm 53 years old and I lost my job over a year ago. I'm looking for government grant money to help care for my extended family.

My husband is disabled, and we have an 11-year-old daughter, and a 27-year-old son living with us.

Our grandson, who is nine, lives with us also, due to the death of his mother over five years ago. He is also disabled due a stroke he suffered while still in the womb.

My husband's sister moved back here over a year ago, and since she is blind, insulin dependent diabetic, and also on dialysis, I have been taking care of all of her finances, and doctor's appointments, and taking her to dialysis.

I also take care of all of my mother and father-in-law's doctor's appointments, making and carrying them to these appointments.

My father-in-law has a brain tumor, and his brain is showing signs of shrinkage. I have to make sure he has the right medicine to take, and my mother-in-law has osteoporosis, and bladder prolapse.

My unemployment will run out soon. I have tried to find work, with no luck. Taking care of my family takes up sometimes over 40 hours a week.

I need help with paying our bills, and buying groceries as I try to take care of my family. Is there help out there for my situation? Thanks.

Why are you doing all the work?
by: tyshawayah

whats wrong with your 27-year-old? Does he contribute to the finances? Kick your son in the butt! Have you applied for financial and food assistance with your state? You should not be doing all this alone.

There is The Arc (http://www.thearc.org/) for your grandson. They are an organization for disabled children. I feel for you. I know how frustrating and unfair the world can be. There are organizations nationwide that can help in lots of small ways. I'm sorry I have no financial advice. Best of luck.
