51 Year Old Disabled Woman Seeks Help To Be Independent

by Brenda
(Dover, OH, USA)

I am a 51-year-old single female who has suffered severe chronic neck, back and muscle pain for eight years. I recently became disabled.

I lived with my boyfriend until I was unable to work and had no medical insurance. He was unable to pay for my medical bills, so I moved in with my sister.

I applied for disability. I was able to get Medicaid and food stamps until my disability was approved.

I want to get my own place to live. I still have a $300 spend down with Medicaid, but I don't have $300 a month for that.

My prescriptions are almost $100 a month. I receive $914 per month for disability. I cannot afford to get my own place to live.

I have a goal to have my own place to live without intruding on my family's assistance. I only receive $16 per month worth of food stamps.

Please help me. I don't want to burden anybody. Brenda Hughes, Dover, Ohio.
