I'm a 50-year-old single female classified as permanently disabled by the Social Security five and a half years ago. I need additional help to cover the costs brought on by my disability.
My diagnosis is Lower Back Failure Syndrome. I fought this disorder for three years in the workforce. I was a Chief Cardiac Perfusionist for two hospitals in the Philadelphia area. I did
NOT want to go out on disability.
I've had over 25 surgical procedures including an anterior approach fusion. I've tried the latest and greatest procedure with no success.
I'm now on very high dosage of Lyrica (600 mg daily) with other medications. My medication monthly bill when I'm in the gap is approximately $1200 monthly.
My father has quit work and mother has cut to part time work just to help me with my daily functions in Alabama. I have lost my career, my savings, my home and husband.
Funds are running short and I'm about to lose what I have left. Any government or personal assistance would be advantageous to my situation.
This is the very first time I've asked for any type of help from other than my family. I would use any type of funding to benefit my living situation and maybe be able to enjoy some outside activities since I do not have a portable wheelchair and vehicle.
Thank you for your time to read my story. My biggest guilt through all of this is how my parents are suffering also. This was their time to enjoy their retirement and what is left of their life.
Again, thank you for any type of assistance.
