48 Year Old Disabled Woman Seeks Government Housing Grant for Home Repair

I am a 48-year-old woman living in Maine. My common-law husband of 20 years has had cancer, and I am on SSI for PTSS.
We found out last week that my husband will start chemo tomorrow, February 23.
We live in an old 1974 trailer on our own land. The condition of this trailer is beyond unacceptable.
We do own a 1988 trailer up to standards of HUD. We would ultimately love to be in there. It's in move-in condition, as I have been preparing for that, except for the utilities.
The well on our land was hand dug and the water from it is not drinkable. We would like to drill a well and put in a holding tank, then hook it up electrically.
With my husband starting chemo, his immune system will be weakened. It would be a Godsend to be able to wash my floors, which I cannot do in the 1974 trailer due to the fact there are holes in the floor and one whole room is particleboard.
With a government grant we could have a drilled well, septic tank and our electric hooked up. To be able to keep my loved one safe is all that matters to me.
I am generally a person who does not like to ask for help for there are so many that need it, But there are times you have to let go and understand that you can't do it alone.
Thank you for reading my story. I hope you will consider my plea. I appreciate you time and consideration. Sincerely, Teri Plourde, Canton, Maine.
