46 Year Old Agoraphobic Woman Seeks Government Housing Grants

by Kathy Frease
(Williamsport, PA, USA)

I am 46 years old and I am agoraphobic. I have a fear of people and public places, and even people visiting our apartment.

I was diagnosed with this in 2005 after my husband's best friend had raped me. This caused me to have no trust in people. Leaving my home to go out in public is a nightmare.

The reason why I am looking for a grant is because renting is uncomfortable for me. There are inspections and a landlord's visit that cause me to have severe panic attacks and nightmares.

It is a horrible feeling. My husband is my caretaker and does his best to help me.
We are surviving off of my social security disability and SSI payments.

After paying rent there isn't much for paying utility payments or getting what is required to have for necessities.

A grant to purchase a home would be wonderful, no inspections, no landlord visits, and no rent payment, which will give us money to pay our bills.

What a dream that is and it would be such a tremendous relief. As it is now we live every day wondering what is going to get shut off next or what is it that I am going to need and we can't get it.

We are constantly in worry and this adds other conditions to what I already have: agoraphobia with panic attacks, clinical manic depression, post traumatic stress disorder.

I do sincerely hope that there is help for us, whether it's a grant or other financial help, or any help at all.

Pay your rent first...
by: Anonymous

Kathy, do you owe your most current previous landlord any back rent? Rent is the first and foremost thing you should pay when you rent a home. Getting your nails done, eating steak and keeping a stock of beer or obtaining a subscription to four magazines is last on the list.

This is Mike, the landlord that tried to help you and did whatever I could to see that you stayed current on your rent; but you could not. Now I am left with over $2,000 in damages to my apartment, a basement filled with your hoarded cat litter and feces, and a mice and flea infestation and more. I need a grant to pay for the damages you caused me. You had twelve cats and two dogs that ruined the carpets in my property. They urinated, defecated and caused damages.

You are not the victim, I am at this point. Your husband can work and does but will not get a good job because he does not want to affect your tax free, government money. You don't need a free grant to pay for a home. You need a grant to pay your DEBT!!! You have an excuse for everything, like I sent you a money order or I am going to get a loan and the list goes on. You owe me money for what you did to my property and I will be a thorn in your side until you pay up. I hope this is viewed by lots of people, so they can see how you are.
