45 Year Old Homeless Disabled Gulf War USMC Veteran Seeks Housing Money

by James Sortore
(California, USA)

I am a 45-year-old disabled veteran who has served in the Gulf War. I was injured while loading ordnance for the Persian Gulf.

After several trips to the naval hospital, I was told that my military career was over.

After being discharged from the USMC, I struggled to find a job that would both accommodate my disability and provide for my family.

It has been very hard and I even went through a divorce because of my disability.

After over 14 surgeries and several years of red tape and denials I am now a homeless disabled veteran and I can't keep going like this.

I haven't seen my children for over a year and a half. I'm getting to the point where I can barely function because of the pain.

I am looking for a grant that will allow me to not only find a place to live but be able to eat and visit my children. Sincerely, James Sortore.

I feel for you and I am not a veteran, just a disabled person who can't get help. I honestly don't know if I believe in fighting for a country that does not stand by you and your families, but we can send billions to countries that hate us and it is not our fault they are who they are.
